Last Day of School!

Last day of school! Last day of school!

It's finally here!

Swimming, tennis team, scolding-hot temperatures, cold iced water and lemonade and sweet tea, summer camp, new people, June bugs and ladybugs and playing "destroy the anthill", beach trips, birthdays, sleepovers, more time to read and write and draw and watch movies, running barefoot in dew-wet grass, the carnival, ice-cream, camping out, etc. etc.

And what do you think the first thing I do when I get home is?

Clean.

You read me right. I cleaned my room, the living room, my brother's room, and shampooed the carpet all over the house. Not to mention the laundry. When my mother gets home, what do you think she does?

Tells me I didn't do a ---- thing, and that I didn't do it worth a ----, and that I could be sure as ---- that I'd do it again. Love you too, Mom.

So here I am, on the computer while my mother's gone because I was grounded. Fun. But I do have something(s) to look forward to. I have this little tradition of staying up all night the day I get out of school, watching my favorite movies and eating popcorn and candy and ice-cream. Plus my little cousin . . . actually, I don't know how she's related to me . . . anyway, she's coming over this weekend, and she's sooo adorable! I love little kids. They're the cutest!

So, even though I had to clean a lot-and still do-I have a whole lot to look forward too. Yeee!

Cynthia Lord

"No toys in the fish tank!"

This book was like, my favorite book in the world. It kind of inspired me, taught me what I liked to write about without me knowing it: people.

This book tells the story of an autistic boy named David, through the eyes of his older sister Catherine. Catherine can't stand her younger brother being autistic. He has trouble with everything, but he likes rules. So Catherine makes rules for him to follow. She also learns what he feels-and how she can help-from a boy named Jason, who cannot speak or walk.

It's an amazing book. It's also for younger children, but I still find myself flipping through it now and again. Just like her other book, Touch Blue.

This book is about Tess, her little sister, and the adopted boy that her parents take in. A lot of the islanders (see the cover, they're on an island!) are taking in foster children to save the school. The older boy Tess and family take in kind of . . . figures it out.

It's (also) an awesome book. I really like the cover, too. Really means something after you've read the book. Again, it's for younger children, but I still like it. I hope my younger brother can read it for himself one day. He's only four now.

Anyways, I really like the author, Cynthia Lord. She writes based off her own son (who is autistic . . . I think) and daughter (who isn't). Her daughter is an artist, as she says, which explains why Catherine in Rules is an artist as well. She says her daughter helped her a lot with Catherine's character.

About Me

Okay, first blog post. Let's start with me, shall we? I read and write a lot. I'm currently waiting on a book. I have both a fanfiction account and a fictionpress account. If you don't know what that is, SEARCH IT! They're both totally awesome.

I like to play sports often, despite the fact that I'm a girl. Soccer, tennis, basketball, football. I suck at basketball, though. I'm too short. I used to be on a swim team, which is why I'm so good at swimming. Why did I quit? I got tired of it. Things bore me easily. The same thing happened with Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Gymnastics, and Baton. That may have been different, though. You try spending time in a big, big band room filled with hairspray, shouts, giggles, girls, crazy itchty costumes, overexaggerated make-up, etc. etc. Gosh, it drove me nuts!

So I quit dance and swim team. I also transferred to a private school, where I remain. People there drive me a bit crazy, but they're fun. I'm in 7th grade, considered one of the "big kids". You don't know how annoying it is to be hugged every single day by little girls while trying to help with lunches. All in all, it's great. I get a really good teacher, and lots of recess. Our teacher is also the P.E. teacher, which means we get P.E. 3 or 4 times a week instead of once. And we don't dread it like in public schools. We look forward to it. Hula hoops, jump ropes, gymnastics, 4-Square . . . what more could a person want? In fact, today, we went to the community college and played tennis. That's how awesome my teacher is.

I listen to rock music. Red, Skillet, Three Days Grace, Creed, Flyleaf, Nickelback, Evanescence, etc. There's too many to name. So, random little input there.

This week is also my last week of school. (Hallelujah!)

I think this post is too long. Is there a limit?

Anyway, now you know all about me. Except for all the stuff that you can track me down with. (Suckers!)
